A large number of research and development activities are being planned or implemented in the sector. WES-Net aims to improve the coordination and collaboration of R&D in order to minimize overlap, facilitate convergence, identify gaps and disseminate results.

The research coordination activity initiated to date has identified a number of R&D initiatives. It is intended to establish a number of thematic clusters and bring stakeholders together to share their work and exploit potential synergy that otherwise is unlikely to be realised. WaterAid India is currently leading this activity with the active involvement of members of the network.
