Water Quality of Ganga Indicates Improvement over pre-GAP period

Waste Generating Industries

E-waste expected to increase to 8,00,000 tonnes by 2012

During 2005, 1,46,800 tonnes of e-waste was generated in the country, which is expected to increase to 8,00,000 by 2012. A survey carried out by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) further states that the top ten cities generating e-waste are Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Surat and Nagpur.

Storage of important reservoirs in the country

Central Water Commission (CWC) under Ministry of Water Resources is monitoring storage position of 81 important reservoirs spread all over the country, of which as many as 36 reservoirs are having significant hydro-power benefits with installed capacities of more than 60 MW each. The combined live storage in these 81 reservoirs at the beginning of monsoon i.e. 1st June 2009 was 11 % of their designed capacity and stood at 44% of the designed capacity as on 28.01.2010.

TPWD Unveils 2010 Texas Land and Water Plan

Pentagon Report Cites Climate Change Risks
